Usually, the Parish Council would have held a public meeting at the village hall to give an update regarding the East Suffolk District Council Local Plan, outlining the strategy for development for the next 25 years. Unfortunately, under current restrictions we cannot have a meeting at the village hall and so we are putting this update on the Parish Council website.
You may know that the original Plan designated land adjacent to Keightley Way as a preferred development site for 35 houses. Following objections from a number of residents and the Parish Council suggesting a viable alternative, the Plan was revised keeping the Keightley Way land as the preferred development site but reducing the capacity of the site to approximately 25 houses.
The Plan then went to HM Inspector – members of the Parish Council & a number of residents attended meetings with the Inspector, however despite representations from both villagers and the Parish Council objecting to the 25 houses, the Local Plan has been passed unaltered.
The Local Plan is a strategy document and any proposed future development will be required to go through the usual planning process where the Parish Council and residents will have the opportunity to make comment. As Tuddenham is designated a “Small Village”, any future proposed development would have to meet with the relevant criteria set out in the Plan.
